Bodie - Mammonth Lakes

Thursday morning we awoke to another fine day, Brenda's has been miserable with a cold for the last couple of days, something she picked up of Errol. We left Willow Springs to the short drive back down the road to this ghost town called Bodie, still at a elevation of over 7000ft, a 10 mile drive of the 395, with the last 3 miles gravel, I think they forgot to put the gravel on the road, more like rough rocks, so made for a very slow trip. Bodie was an old gold mining town that stated in the late 1800s, apparently very successful, but faded away around 1964, and was left abandoned as it is today, now a State Park, everything as it was when the town was abandoned, as you can see some really cool pictures and sights, well worth the drive of the beaten track.

We slowly drove out of Bodie stopping at the look-out over Mono Lake, the saftey guard rail was full of stickers, so we had to leave our mark.
We continued back down the 395 to a place called Mammoth Lakes, a winter ski resort, and a summer mountain bike haven, again we were warned about the bears....but still no bears!!!!
The sunset last night at Mammoth Lakes.
