Las Vegas - Zion - Cedar Breaks - Bryce Canyon

After relaxing for 3 days at the Oasis in Las Vegas we headed on our way north, still hoping to get to Yellowstone before it becomes too late & closes for winter.

Leaving Nevada on the 15 via Misquite, we dipped our toes across the the top right hand corner of Arizona and into Utah.  Once across the border we started an "S" bend in our direction and diverted into Zion National Park where the colours and rock formations were amazing.  Our Annual Pass for National Parks has paid for itself at least twice by the end of the day.  We travelled through route 9 via Zion Tunnel for which we needed Ranger controlled traffic due to our RV size and then on up the 22, until we changed direction again to venture into Cedar Breaks, off the 14 and into the 143.

The landscape changes every few minutes and entering into the Cedar Breaks area we see the reds and yellows in the trees as the season changes and we get further north - we need to find a jacket when we hopped out.  We pass deer/elk in the fields along the way, (Daryl is on a mission, so no stopping here! insert by Daryl..had been a long day !!!).  The colours are beautiful, as is Cedar Breaks when we arrived at the entrance point where our pass is once again used to enter.

As we head off again we spot some deer/elk in the fields along the way, which we managed to get some photo's of them disappearing into the bush (rear end shots only, even though we did stop this time....).  Bear signs up and ranger talks.......... but still no bears !!!!!!

We jumped back on the 15 again for a short distance until we turn off on to the 20 heading via Panguitch, down the 89 and on to the the 12 towards Bryce Canyon.

It is getting late as we head in & we stop at Ruby's Inn RV park for the night.  We have lost an hour (Mountain Time) entering Utah as we crossed the time line - it has been a long day(insert by Daryl bloody long), so we decide to have a night off the BBQ and go the Ruby's for dinner - big mistake!  They have over 700 lodge facilities and about 300 in the RV park - the restaurant was kaos and the wait took about 30 minutes to be seated, so we settled for the buffet as an easy option.
This turned out to be typical American food - all pre purchased in containers and was not nice, even the wine was chateau de cardboard very tasty hmmmm not.  We happily return our (insert by Daryl...his cooking is OK) BBQ and cooking our own food.
