We decide to take a flight over Bryce Canyon the next day instead of driving in & out of the Canyon so head out to the airport to sort a flight. The plane is out already but we decided to wait for it's return around 12.30pm - we had a late start anyway as it was around midnight by the time we got to bed last night, so not to long to wait.
The plane was dinky - a Cesnar 6 seater & the pilot looked pretty young..... the ride was a little bumpy (I did grip the seat a few times...) but as we travelled down Bryce Canyon and out over the edge of the Grand Staircase and back again, the view was amazing - the colours and formations in the rocks and landscape is hard to describe - the photos do not do it justice and we just can't explain it....
2pm & we head off on our way north returning back to the 89 & travelling 115miles up to Richfield, where we stopped at the KOA RV Park for the night. The RV Park is still full from a week long ATV Jamboree and we were amused by the grannies driving ATV's around. (All Terrain Vehicles (Quads) are huge in this area and they have 260 miles of tracks over 3 mountain ranges close by - big business and they are everywhere in town. We were lucky to get a park for the night!
In the morning we head on to Salt Lake City, 160miles further north arriving aournd 2pm. The day is cloudy and it threatens to rain - first time we think we will see rain on our trip..... it amounts to nothing & we cycled into town to look around Temple Square & Salt Lake Temple - set in beautiful gardens and ponds. We cycled around town and pass the Old Union Pacific Station, Trolley Square and other city points - then stopped at a Mexican Supermarket and picked up some spicy chicken wings for tea - have to admit, Daryl's cooking isn't too bad!
Happy Birthday Mum (Joan) - Hope you had a wonderful day. XXXX
