Yellowstone - West Entrance to Mammoth Hot Springs/Gardiner

We found out that the top of the upper loop is already closed for the season as construction is underway, so we head north up the west side of the upper loop towards Mammoth Hot Springs.

This part is windy and narrow, not so much fun to drive on but we see more Bison along the way - they are on the road and Rangers are there to protect them & us.....

We stop at the last minute and go down a long walkway to find the hot springs - amazing and a lot of people don't do the walk down to them - they really miss out.

You have to watch where you step.......droppings everywhere, but pretty cool to be wandering around with wildlife.

We have an ice cream biscuit but nowhere to stay in Mammoth Springs so we head out about 5 miles to Gardiner.

We camp at the Rocky Mountain RV Park for the night - the wind is up & it is cold, threatening to rain but doesn't come to much.
